The first and only major invasion of the mainland United States took place during the War of 1812, and the city of Baltimore played a major part in that critical (and painful) chapter in U.S. history. To highlight the city's heritage and its role in the conflict, Baltimore is kicking off a Bicentennial Celebration of the War of 1812 this month.
