Controversial and provocative he may be, but Bauerlein makes some very good (and troubling) points in this interview....
If you're a fan of history like myself, you've got to be troubled by the fact that history's memory is in the hands of this next generation.
**Editor's Disclaimer: As a former high school history teacher, I can say that there are EXCEPTIONS to what Mr. Bauerlein is saying. Some teenagers are very sharp and motivated. But, as a whole, this rising generation represents a crisis for America.

I wonder which political party makes fun of 'elitists' and well-educated Americans, and then puts forth a candidate that doesn't know anything about American civics, geography, or some of our most important treaties!
I admit that my generation is often hopelessly ignorant. But there are some of us who really care... and those who don't sometimes have not had very good teachers. If I had not had my AP Euro and Human History II teachers, I would have still hated history.
I consider myself an exception.
My impression is that the majority of our youth are indoctrinated in various ideologies rather than in facts and an understanding of those facts.
