David McCullough Interview
David McCullough is one of the greatest historians of our time. Here, McCullough is interviewed by Charlie Rose about his book 1776 - one of the best modern books written on the American Revolution.
I actually met McCullough. Super nice guy and he has done so much to promote the learning of history. I find it strange that so many history professors don't like him. They say he writes "feel-good history" and often stretches the truth. I sometimes wonder if it is just jealousy talking.
Many of our nation's history professors prefer to grind axes and/or beat up on America. So, when they come across a guy like McCullough, who actually loves and appreciates America, they react negatively. Not me, though, I love McCullough.

ReplyDeleteAMEN! Anyone who can make history interesting, fun AND be a good quality historian (despite what any professor may say) deserves an A+ in my book.
ReplyDeleteI agree...historians today want to degrade American history WAY too much!
